Pretty cool news being confirmed by DC that a favorite of mine, Sam Kieth, will be doing some work for them. I talked about Kieth previously here at Banana when noting that MTV was streaming the adaptation of his Maxx series from the ’90s. Kieth will be drawing a 2-issue prestige story called Lobo: Highway to Hell. Adding to the unusual nature of the product is that the writer is Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian.
To many fans Lobo probably represents everything that is wrong with ’90’s comics but honestly I loved everything Bisely and Grant did with the Main Man. He isn’t my favorite character, but in small doses (say 2 issues) the character can be amusing in the way a Deadpool is amusing (though I definitely think the latter is much better suited for having his own title). This was being mentioned from con reports earlier but it’s nice to get the real word.
Lobo just kicks ass, Sam Kieth doesn’t know how to not kick ass, and I don’t know the guy but surely the guy from Anthrax has kicked an ass or two in his day, so that’s 3 ass kickers in one book, and it sounds like they have the right attitude:
“This is everything you know and love about Lobo – extreme violence, cursing, drinking, extremer violence
Throw in some Banana Syrup and some hotties and we are talking sequential ambrosia.
